Plans to keep all five of Croydon's maintained nursery schools open

I welcome this Cabinet paper, which highlights that we have no plans to close any of Croydon's five maintained nursery schools.

We have spent time listening to our parents, carers and staff, and I always said this would be a proper consultation where we would carefully consider any options brought forward.

Rather than the Labour approach of letting budgets spiral out of control until it becomes too late, our proposals are to link Crosfield & Selhurst Nurseries with the governing body of a local school.

This sound Conservative approach would allow the nursery schools to operate more efficiently and cost effectively - making them financially viable - without making significant changes to the service children and families receive.
